Day
1

Transfer to Candanchu

The geographical itinerary begins at the Candanchu ski resort, under the northern wall of Aspe (2,645 m.), a prominent ridge of cretaceous limestone. The valley is wide and rich in pastures, with views of Aspe Peak. Possible hiking itineraries to walk depending on arrival time. On the way we will pass by Canfranc Station. Canfranc International railway station was often referred to around the time of its opening as the "Titanic of the Mountains", due to its large size, having the second largest station building in Europe at the time of its completion in 1928.

Day
2

Sansanet Beech Forest

18 km Circular route.Leaving on foot.

The western side of the mountain range, accessible from Candanchu, has always been a delight. The northern wall of

Aspe peak

and the Sansanet beech forest lend a note of intrigue and arouses curiosity. Anyone getting this walked mid afternoon will be rewarded with a tranquility and light that is deeply satisfying. Reddish tones prevail, studded with green and crowned by white limestone as bastions and walled castles. It begins the gentle descent towards the Atlantic side through the  softness of green reliefs and forests thickness.

Day
3

Anayet and Canal Roya

17 km. Highest point 2,000 m. (Anayet Lake).

Leaving on foot. Canal Roya, is a real reward for anyone wanting solitude and quite day. Many details and millions of years of history: post-Hercynian andesites, Permotrias conglomerates, the Great Extinction, Salamandra salamandra. Red colour appears more clearly together with compact sandstones. From Anayet Lakes, right in front of you the view of Anayet peak 2,545 m. high and on the left its sister peak Midi D’ossau, another volcanic piton. Descent to Formigal.

Day
4

Around Midi D'Ossau

16 km. Leaving by van. 10 minutes transfer to starting point.

Starting point Araille parking spot (French-Spanish border). The target of the day will be going around the

volcanic peak of Midi D'Ossau

, enjoying its architecture of hanging platforms, collapses, spires, fissures: The Cathedral of the Pyrenees. The scenery is dotted with the glacial basins of Casterau, Bersau, Gentau and Ayous, converted into crystalline lakes. We will pass through the Ayous Refuge, before finishing the route at Lac de Bious Artigues.

Day
5

Baños de Panticosa

12 km. Leaving by van. 30 minutes transfer to starting point. Circular route.

Panticosa will be the doorway to take contact with granite landscape. This day the path has been carved by former glaciers, so massive ice abrasion and rounded shapes dominate. They are the granites of Bachimaña. Argualas, Garmo Negro, Algas and Infiernos peaks, the heights, all above three thousand meter, above the conifers, are keeping watch over the valley ,  and providing contrasting scenery on the grey granite.

Day
6

Baños de Panticosa - Bujaruelo

21 km. Highest point Puerto Viejo (2,566 m)

Leaving on foot. The GR 11 set off Baños Panticosa eastwards to San Nicolás de Bujaruelo, among ruined thermal fountains. Already on the mule trail, the GR 11 begins to gain altitude by serpentine zigzags, at first through the forest and later on through clear granite terrain. It comes across the Brazato lake (2,390 m) and borders it the on its northern side to continue to Puerto Viejo, dividing the basins of the Gállego and Ara-Cinca rivers. From this point we will face the long descent of the Ara valley. The GR 11 crosses the river to get on its left bank and some hours later  along a pedestrian path crosses again the Ara River through the medieval bridge of Bujaruelo.

Day
7

Ordesa National Park.

23 km.

Highest point 2,100 m. (Senda de los Cazadores balcony). Circular.

Leaving by bus. From Torla we will get on the shuttle bus to starting point. Twenty minutes to get. The greats arrive, not only because of the height, which is finally a modern convention, but also because of its origin and endless reading. The overthrust fault sequences get stacked by tectonic as summits and mountain cols. Three deep scars of ancient walking glaciers radiate from the main knot of Monte Perdido, discharging their extinct bravery to the West, South and Southeast: Ordesa, Añisclo and Pineta valleys.

I can start by saying that we are very satisfied with the trip. It was absolutely fantastic. Beautiful and varied hikes, some of which were a bit more technically demanding and involved long days—just what you want. Ignacio is an amazing guide. He is extremely knowledgeable, dedicated, and well-organized. He plans hiking routes that are appropriately challenging, and if it gets too tough, he adjusts the pace so that everyone can keep up. I wouldn’t change anything. He was also very friendly, funny, sharing interesting facts about the region. The setup of staying at just a few hotels works well too. It makes for a comfortable yet active vacation. The standard of the accommodations varied, of course, but overall it was good. The hotels varied in standar. We had dinner at a restaurant in the village of Torla that served the best food you can imagine. It was hard to choose from all the delicious dishes. The transfer to and from the airport was long, but there's probably not much that can be done about that. ˮ

Emma — Goteborg

100% Recomendable. ˮ

Adela — Alicante (Spain) Agosto 2023
