Detailed Tour

Day
1

Madrid to Navarredonda de Gredos

Navarredonda de Gredos 2,5 h, village located at an elevation of 1,523 metre above sea level in the northern foothills of the Sierra, and the fifth-highest municipality in Spain. Since early 8th century, nearly the entire Iberian Peninsula fell under Arab rule. It was likely some Berber shepherds settled in the region and evolved livestock farming, introducing sheep and generalising transhumance.

Day
2

Morezón 2389 m high

15 km Circular route and 800 m ascent.

The Morezón is one of the peaks that makes up the Circo de Gredos. From its top you have one of the best views of the area with the Elola Refuge and the Laguna Grande in the foreground. It’s not unusual to have 70km views south all the way across the plain to the Toledo Mountains and the most emblematic peaks of the circus —such as Almanzor. All over this “roof of Castile and stony heart of Spain” —as the poet Miguel de Unamuno said.

Day
3

La Mira 2343 m high

15,5 km Circular route and 860 m ascent.

La Mira is like many of the highest mountains in the range notable, for its quite important local relief relative to the south side, where the Tiétar Valley is located at 400 meter down. In 1996 the Spanish Government decided to protect a total of 86,397 hectares of its area as a Sierra De Gredos Natural Park

Day
4

Cinco Lagunas 2444 m high

24 km Circular route and 1250 m ascent.

From the first lagoon, Majalaescoba, to the last one, Laguna Cimera, it is a perceptual experience dominated by images of the landscape. This magnificent walk takes you to Cabeza Nevada 2,426 m. All in all a find-hard experience of viewing an inspiring portrait. There is a shortcut option.

Day
5

Valdeascas and Tormes river

14 km Circular route and 278 m ascent.

The path is a simple, rounded way, easy and delightful of access. The trail follows the course of the Valdeascas Gorge and contains information about the unique geological make-up of these sceneries. The water has carved a succession of extremely beautiful pools and rapids out of the hard Gredos granite. With the kind permission of the Autumn, this is an idyllic spot for a refreshing dip.

Day
6

Almanzor 2592 m high

20 km return route and 1300 m ascent.

This long walk into a rootless suture of a Variscan mountain chain belt of NW Iberia takes you up to the impressive Laguna Grande and Almanzor peak, the highest in the Gredos at 2,592m. However, the current relief dates back to the Alpine orogeny (approximately 30 million years ago), when it rose above the plateau. The virtue of creating space, time and landscape.

Day
7

Torozo 2022 m high and Avila city

9 km Circular route and 640 m ascent.

It is an easy route to follow and do without any problem of technical difficulty. Beautiful and fun ascent to Torozo, an impressive rocky massif of the Sierra de Gredos Oriental with wonderful views.

Avila an UNESCO World Heritage Site, will be the perfect quiet and unhurried pace to only adds to our relaxed and cultural last day. The whole of ancient Avila has been called the "finest medieval remnant in Spain".
